March 28, 2018 - Suggested Reading Acts 24 – for Apr 1st’s Easter message on 1 Corinthians 7:14 in the 1st Service

“unless it was this one thing I shouted as I stood in their presence: ‘It is concerning the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial before you today.”
Acts 24:21 (NIV)

The hope of the resurrection of the dead is a big part of Paul’s gospel, and he used it to divide the Sanhedrin for his benefit, for the Pharisees believe in the resurrection of the dead and the Sadducees don’t. Felix the Roman governor knew all about the “Way” and all about the Jewish faith and the politics of the Sanhedrin, and he was not disposed to grant the Jewish leaders freedom to harm Paul. However he makes the deadly mistake that many many people make – they are OK with the idea of a resurrection but not willing to deal with the consequences of a Risen Saviour.
If Christ Jesus is alive, then faith in Christ Jesus requires righteousness, self control and an expectation of personal judgement. This type of talk scared Felix for it meant a change in his life Today. How many thousands and millions of people “believe” in the resurrection of the dead but refuse to deal with the reality of a Risen Lord and Saviour?
Martha believed in the great resurrection and was challenged by Jesus to believe in HIM.
Oh friend if God will bring your body back from the grave- will He not require an accounting
from you?
Face it now, plead for mercy from the Risen One, the Lord Jesus, become ready today for that great Resurrection Day.
