Numbers 22

"Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: You have people there who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin by eating food sacrificed to idols and by committing sexual immorality."

{Revelation 2:14} (NIV 1984)

Here the early Christians are: 1,500 years after the episode with Balaam and Balak, and they are falling into the same trap! We really are sheep!

Here we are 2,000 years after the Christians in Pergamum, and we still fall into the trap set by Balaam and Balak. We really are sheep!

The Israelites were numerous and great. The church of Christ is numerous and great. Curses would not work against Israel. Curses will not work against the church of Christ. Balaam counseled Balak to tempt the men of Israel into sexual sin so that God would kill them Himself. Satan and his demons tempt the men of the church into sexual sin, so that God would kill them Himself. 

23,000 men died; men that were needed by Israel to extend the kingdom. How many Christians, men and women, have been destroyed by this evil scheme? Christians who were needed by the church to extend the kingdom. 

Oh friend. Wake up! Arise from your stupor. Watch and pray. Help each other in this area. God is faithful, and His grace is sufficient. The problem is with us.
