Matthew 25

“The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the
least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’
{Matthew 25:40}  (NIV1984)

This passage is a sobering passage, for it speaks to that great and terrible judgement day when all humans appear before the Lord Jesus Christ and He separates those going into eternal life, and those going to eternal fire.
The judgement He renders surprises the people. They want to know when they met Him on earth. The Lord declares that anything done for the least of His brothers and sisters on earth, is actually done for Him.

Ponder this for a moment.

The Lord is saying that the deciding factor, for whether or not a person faces eternal life or eternal punishment, is how they treated me and you. How can this be? What makes us so important?
According to this text, the Lord’s family is not like our earthly families. Our heavenly family is bound tightly in Christ. How you treat a Christian is how you treat Christ. What a wonderful truth this is!

O Lord, help us to remember who we are dealing with when we deal with a Christian. Help us to treat them as we would treat you. For they are united with you, and you with them.
