1 Thessalonians 4

"But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth."
{2 Thessalonians 2:13} (NIV 1984)

O how our Heavenly Father has blessed us with His Spirit! This is the Day of Salvation, the age of the gospel, the period of time in history set by the Father, in which all who hear and believe the truth will be saved.

Our Lord told us that the Spirit would be the One who gives us rebirth and Paul’s epistles spell the Spirit’s work out further. The Spirit sanctifies us. He enters us at the point of belief, He puts our sin nature to death, and brings alive a new person in Christ. The Spirit ties up the strong man and cleans house! God Himself in inside us, purifying us for His glory! This work is a continual work, which will not end until we are like Christ.

May we this day, cooperate with the Spirit, may we listen to His still small voice. Sanctify us Lord!
