Nov 6, 2017- Suggested Reading Psalm 119:1-40

“Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD.”

This longest Psalm’s central message is contained in its 1st verse. Blessing from God comes through obedience to God’s Word. At 1st glance we get discouraged, for we are a long way from the individual described in verse 1 thru 3, but we soon realize that the psalmist is in the same boat we are. He DESIRES to be steadfast in obedience and he looks forward to learning God’s Laws. This is a lifetime of learning, it is a journey, a mindset called continual learning- it starts when we are young, and continues thru our whole lives by putting God’s Word in our hearts- the wellspring of our lives. We ask God to teach us, and we work on being good students; we practise, we meditate, we consider, we delight in and we do not neglect the Word.

When we hit the obstacles of friends/family/bosses who treat this behaviour of ours with scorn, contempt, slander and arrogance, we ask God to vindicate us, and carry on in our pursuit of walking in His ways.

When we hit the obstacle of soul weariness, we ask Him for strength, for grace, for deliverance from deceitful ways. Even though we are laid low in the dust, we ask Him to continue to teach us – we want to follow Him to the end!

WE PRAY! Teach me, give me, direct me, turn my heart, turn my eyes, fulfill your promise, take way disgrace, preserve my life!
