Nov 13, 2017- Suggested Reading 1st Service 2 Samuel 23

“The inspired utterance of David son of Jesse, the utterance of the man exalted by the Most High, the man anointed by the God of Jacob, the hero of Israel’s songs:"

I have a fondness for 2 Samuel 23, for I owe it a great debt! Many memories of my 3 boys at the age of needing to sit in church, and yet not able to stay interested – 2nd Samuel 23 and the stories of David’s heroes would keep their noses in the Bible, their bums on the seats and their hands from trouble. The 4 of us eagerly purchased the novels by Cliff Graham a few years ago that do a great job of fleshing out this account, especially good job describing the “covering of the Spirit” – the supernatural ability God gave these heroes to defeat their foes. http://cliffgraham.com/project/lion-of-war-franchise/hk David is called the hero of Israel’s songs and the credit for his ability to write these wonderful songs is given solely to the Spirit of God. These psalms written 3,000 years ago still speak into the situations of Christians today. They give us the ability to persevere as Eleazar and Shammah did, to show great courage and initiative as Benaiah son of Jehoiada and others did. These psalms written by David have inspired many MIGHTY women and men over the ages. HOW? The Spirit of God wrote truths about spiritual realities, through an anointing over a man named David, and the Spirit of God brings these truths to life in the innermost parts of the people who have the Spirit of God dwelling within them through faith in God’s Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
