Nov 22, 2017- Suggested Reading 2nd Service Luke 6

“Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you, for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets.”
Luke 6:26 (NIV)

None of us want people to bad mouth us. I don’t want people talking down about me and yet our Lord teaches us in this passage that we are BLESSED when we are hated, excluded, and insulted. He tells us that we are under a curse (WOE) when everyone speaks well of us, and that if everyone speaks well of us then we must be false teachers. The great irony of our day and age in Ontario is that those who are supposedly leading the great fight against hatred, exclusion and insult in our society are eager participants in hate, exclusion and insults towards Christians in particular and people of faith in general. What would Jesus say to us if He was living in Ontario in 2017: “Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven.”
