Matthew 6:5-15

"O Lord, listen! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, hear and act! For your sake, O my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name.”
{Daniel 9:19} (NIV1984)

This prayer of Daniel is one of the most beautiful prayers in the Bible. The people of God are in a terrible situation, they have needs too great to count. Everything about their situation is wrong. A person could be excused for not knowing where to start praying. Which need is greater? What would we like God to do for us first? Do I have enough faith to see my prayer answered? Daniel does not have those questions in His mind. He knows that the Word of God teaches that the time is right for God to act, and He knows that God is a God of mercy. So Daniel bases his prayer on those two truths out of the Word and then asked for the greatest need all people everywhere have. We need God to listen and to forgive our sins, and then act on our behalf. Friend, what do you need from God today? Before He will provide it, you must be forgiven. We say to God “If I have sinned, forgive me.” You won’t find that prayer in the Bible. There is no “IF” in regards to our sins in the bible. Our Lord teaches us to pray; “Forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors.”

Oh merciful Father of glory and grace, forgive us we pray, thank you for your mercy and grace in our lives.
