Hebrews 11

"All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth."
{Hebrews 11:13} (NIV1984)

Only faith counts with God! The message of the Bible is, “believe God and act in that belief”. Hebrews 11 reminds us of this truth and gives us examples of the actions of people who are righteous in God’s eyes through faith. Noah built an ark, Abraham left his homeland, Moses rejected royalty, the prophets gave their lives. These people fixed their eyes on the life to come. They lived their lives here on earth as travellers through a foreign land. Oh that we may have this faith! That we may fix our eyes on the life that lasts, the life with God forever. May we look at this life as a journey that ends with leaving everything except ourselves and deeds done by faith behind. As I write this I think of two men in our church who exemplify this attitude for us. Cecil and Stephen know they are on a journey, and they have their eyes fixed on the Lord. May God, thru His
Holy Spirit, work with power in our innermost being, so that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith!

PS- I received word this morning that Cecil died early this morning. He is with his Lord. Keith told me that when he visited him last night in BGH, that there was a man from Cecil’s work there as well. This man asked Cecil why he still had a smile on his face. Cecil said to Keith; “You tell him why.” The gospel was spoken once again. Let’s remember Dora, Corey and Mark before the throne of grace.
