Luke 16:10-15

"The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this, and were sneering at Jesus."
{Luke 16:14}  (NIV1984)

Oh I don’t want to be like the Pharisees! I don’t want to have their attitude towards our Lord! To hear the words of the Son of the Most High God, and to sneer at them, is the height of foolishness. You can almost hear them say, “This man doesn’t have any money- why should we listen to him?” “What does he know about real life?”  Friend, our Lord knows all there is about ‘real’ life. We should listen to His teaching about money. When we find ourselves questioning His teaching about money or ignoring it, we need to stop, confess our sinful attitude, thank the Holy Spirit for His grace in showing us our sin, and then ask Him to teach us and to change us in this area of our attitude towards money. God wants our heart, all of our heart. It seems as if there is a direct line between our wallet and our heart. If someone starts to talk about ‘our’ money, we get emotional very quickly, the defense walls go up, and we don’t want to listen.

Heavenly Father, may your grace flow into our lives today and this week as we look at your teaching about money. May you work in power in our lives and break through the hardness we have in this area.
