Ecclesiastes 2:12-16

"It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of every man; the living should take this to heart."
{Ecclesiastes 7:2} (NIV1984)

Solomon understood that our own death is what makes all these things we work so hard on meaningless. Each of us will die, and our work won’t be remembered, our wealth will disappear, our buildings will fall down, and people will even forget our names. Death is a big problem for humans - all humans, the rich and poor, the wise and foolish, and the good and the bad. So he tells us to go to funerals, for there we are reminded that we are destined to die, and we will change the way we live in order to get ready to meet God.

Remember your Creator- he tells us- Fear God and obey His commandments… for God will judge us. Our lives have an end date. We have a set time to prepare to meet our God and so we should use some of that time to prepare for our meeting with God. The only things that will have real meaning, that have lasting gain, are the things that count with God! Our Lord Jesus tells us to lay up treasures in heaven (Matt. 6:20).

What can we do today thru Christ that counts with God? When will we pray? Who will we give money to? How can we take up our cross today and follow our Lord? Let us redeem our time, this short amount of time we have on earth.
