Matthew 26:57-68

“Yes, it is as you say,” Jesus replied. “But I say to all of you: In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One 

and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

Jesus remained silent until the high priest charged Him under oath by the living God. Then our Lord spoke up, and He told them plainly that He is the Christ and that He will come back to rule the earth as the living God’s right hand Man. 

This passage informs us, that the issue the Jewish leaders had with Jesus, was His claim to be the Christ, the Son of God. Many people tell us that Jesus never claimed to be the Son of God, and that this was something His disciples came up with later. No friend, this was why they crucified Him. They understood clearly who he claimed to be, they understood clearly that the miraculous signs proved the truth of what He claimed, and they were determined to thrust Him out of their lives. 

We could ask why; we could try to understand how people who knew the Bible so well, were so determined to kill God’s Son. But a more productive line of thought would be - do I take Him at His Word? Do I believe His “Yes"? Do I believe that He is at the right hand of the Mighty One? And do I believe that He will come on the clouds? As we consider those questions; may our answer be a resounding and truthful “YES”!
