"For you know that it was not with perishable
things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life
handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of
Christ,
a lamb without blemish or defect."
{1 Peter 1:18,19} (NIV1984)
If our
Lord had a single defect, a single sin, a single lustful look, a single lie on
His lips, He would have died in vain. Oh, He would have still been the best man
who ever lived. He still would have performed miracles, and taught tremendous
truths. The world would have been impacted, but His death would have been vain,
empty of purpose. God clearly laid out in the Old Testament that the lambs, for the sacrifice, must be without
blemish or defect. For atonement to be made, for forgiveness to be extended to
the person through the blood of the sacrifice, the sacrifice must be perfect.
Our Lord was perfect, perfect in thought, perfect in word, and perfect in deed.
When He offered His body as a sacrifice for our sin, it was a perfect body. The
apostle Peter urges us to honour our perfect Lord, by living a holy life as He
did. May this be our desire today!
Take my hands …Take my feet…Take my
eyes...Take my life and let it be, consecrated Lord to thee, consecrated Lord
to Thee.
