1 Corinthians 3:1-15

"For a fire has been kindled by my wrath,
one that burns to the realm of death below.
It will devour the earth and its harvests and set afire
the foundations of the mountains."
{Deuteronomy 32:22} (NIV1984)

God has started a fire. His wrath provides the kindling. His just wrath that is poured out daily (Psalm 7:11), is just the beginning of the fire! There is wrath stored up, ready to be unleashed, held back by the character of God Himself. Praise God for His patience and long-suffering!

Moses tells us that when this wrath is unleashed, there will be a huge fire that devours the earth, destroying the surface and reaching down into the foundations of the mountains. The fuel is wrath, an enormous amount of wrath, unleashed by an enormous God. This wrath is incurred when sin is committed. Oh that we would realize the sinfulness of sin.

We think of sin as a mistake, a slip, a careless action. God views sin as an affront to His Holiness, to His character. The only way to escape this fire is to be in Christ. The only way for our work for the kingdom to survive, is if our work is done in and by the Lord Jesus Christ.

May we be found in Christ when this day of fire occurs! May we be careful to only do the works of Christ through Christ. What a precious salvation we have received through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen
