Malachi 3:13-18

"Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess his name."
{Hebrews 13:15} (NIV1984)

Through Jesus. Through Jesus. Oh may we learn the truth that is in those two words! Anything we do apart from Jesus is vain. Anything we say apart from Jesus is useless. The Bible tells us that Samuel did not let any of his words fall to the ground. If only that could be written of me. Even as I write this my heart sinks as I think of the things I have said recently that have not been “through Jesus”.
Everything we do and everything we say is to be through Jesus, and so we approach the Most High God through Jesus. It is through His body that we enter the throne room of God. It is through His blood that we are cleansed of our sin and are able to stand in the presence of a Holy God. It is through His Holy Spirit that we confess His Name. When we are first saved, we believe in our heart and we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord. This confession out of our mouths comes from His Holy Spirit. As we face our first sin head on, we ask for forgiveness in Jesus’ Name. As we grow in our faith and realize His grace is available to keep us from sin, we call on His Name to protect us and keep us from sin. We sing praises and bless His Name. We tell others about what Jesus means to us. We encourage brothers and sisters to trust in His gracious Name. As we say these things God is honoured, God is glorified, God is pleased and God remembers! May our lips confess His Name today!
