Exodus 34:1-14

"For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God."
{2 Corinthians 1:20}  (NIV1984

The promises of God are dependent upon the nature of God and the capability of God. The God who is described in the Bible, is so far above all things created, that it is laughable to think that anyone or anything could thwart Him (Ps 2).

The nature of God is described for us in Exodus 34 and He is beautiful. His nature was revealed to Moses through a description of the character of God, in response to a request from Moses to see the glory of God. We who live in this age of grace have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, His Son! Paul is expressing the glorious truth that in the person of Christ all the promises of God are YES!

In the old covenant, God’s promises were waiting, ready to be poured out on His people, waiting for obedience. Our Lord provided that obedience. Praise His Name! And now, all the promises of God are “YES” in Christ. We who are united with Christ through faith, and who draw near to Him in the Spirit, hear from God Himself “Amen” or “Let it be” and the promises pour out upon us.

Friend, God is faithful, God is loving, God forgives, and God will never leave you. His Spirit is an eternal deposit; your sins have been washed away and you can have the grace to defeat temptation, to bless your family, to witness to your neighbours. Draw near to our Lord, walk hand in hand, step by step this day!

Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea.
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.
