"If we confess
our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us
from all unrighteousness."
{1 John 1:9} (NIV1984)
God is
light. There is no darkness in Him and therefore, if we walk in the darkness we
are not in Him. The apostle John keeps it very simple. There is no fellowship
with God when we have sin in our lives. We need fellowship with God. We need
the testimony of the Holy Spirit, His counsel, His comfort, and His
encouragement. God is our sustenance; our nourishment and the very source of life
for us.
Are we weary, confused, or burdened? Do we feel as if we don’t want to
go on? Then friend, let us draw near to God through the cross of the Lord Jesus
Christ. Let us kneel before God and ask for our sins to be forgiven, thank Him
for the blood that purifies us, and seek closer fellowship with the Living God.
He is faithful (He keeps His promises to forgive), He is just (the Lord Jesus
satisfied all the requirements of justice). He will not only forgive our sins, He
will purify us from all unrighteousness. Here we are clean again, pure as snow
in His sight! Safe in the arms of God!
Why do we not confess our sins daily?
Hourly? Why would we go even one minute, separated from fellowship with the
Living God?
