Job 24

"Why does the Almighty not set times for judgment?
Why must those who know him look in vain for such days?"
Job 24:1  (NIV1984)

God Almighty is just. David tells us that righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne (Psalm 89:14).

The Webster dictionary defines justice as “the maintenance or administration of what is just especially by the impartial adjustment of conflicting claims or the assignment of merited rewards or punishments”. Job is asking, 'why aren’t there set days (i.e. - every other Thursday) when God administers justice?' Things would be much simpler for us humans. We would know that everyone would get what they deserve from God Almighty on every other Thursday.

Job’s complaint is that he never sees justice administered. Job in particular has made it clear that what is happening to him is unjust, and he wants God to make it right. How many things are never made right in this world during our life time? Billions? Trillions? How can it be that God Almighty’s throne (sovereign rule), is based on justice and righteousness? Know this truth- God has set a Day; He has selected the Judge, our Lord Jesus (2 Timothy 4:1) and all things will be made right; justice will be administered and righteousness will triumph.

O friend, be encouraged. Our God is a God of justice, a God of righteousness. Blessed are those who wait on Him.
