Hebrews 12:18-29

"Then Moses led the people out of the camp to meet with God,
and they stood at the foot of the mountain."
{Exodus 19:13} (NIV1984)

The first 18 chapters of Exodus outlines all the things God did in order to get His people to assemble as a group in front of Him.

The purpose for which He had brought them into the desert, was to worship Him as a group; to stand together shoulder to shoulder gazing at His holiness and tremble in His presence. He allowed hardship to enter their lives, so that they would cry to Him for help. He raised up a leader to deliver them; He worked miracles and wonders in the land of oppression.

God split the Red Sea, destroyed the army, fed them miraculously, and guided them by night and by day. All for the purpose of having them assemble as a group to worship Him.

Do we realize that God’s purpose in saving us, is to get us to assemble before Him in one group? We look forward to that great assembly on the Day of the Lord, or do we?

If we don’t look forward to assembling with our local assembly (church) on a weekly basis, do we truly look forward to assembling with the multitude on the Day of the Lord?

O friend. May we thank God for overcoming all the obstacles in our lives in order to save us, and may that thankfulness motivate us to overcome the little obstacles that stop us from assembling weekly before Him.
