Isaiah 49

I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her.

Blessed by God! How we long to be blessed by God! God reaches down from heaven and touches a woman. He doesn’t bring her wealth. He doesn’t bring her a trouble-free life. He doesn’t bring her a husband who puts her first. He reaches down and touches her womb and she is able to conceive a child. God reaches down and forms that child in her womb, planning its days, forming its features. To God, that little fetus is not an it. God knows the gender of the child. He knows that Sarah would have a boy, even before conception. God keeps the woman healthy; He keeps the baby safe. God brings them safely together to that day, when the world begins to see what God has planned. The day of the birth! 

Who is it that you hold? Who is it that you nurture and care for? Who is this little one, and what will they become? Surely mothers are blessed by God!
