2 Samuel 21:1-1

"Rizpah daughter of Aiah took sackcloth and spread it out for herself on a rock. From the beginning of the harvest till the rain poured down from the heavens on the bodies, she did not let the birds of the air touch them by day or the wild animals by night."
{2 Samuel 21:10} (NIV1984)

King David had spoken. He was correcting a wrong committed before God. The seven sons of Saul, were handed over and were killed, and left exposed on a hill for the animals and elements to devour. No one in the nation cared except for a mother. She alone cared, and she alone kept vigil and kept the birds from devouring their bodies. She could not keep them alive, but she could care for their remains. What grief this mother bore alone. What a tremendous act of love for her sons. The king was told of her actions, and he acted. He took the remains and buried them properly, and the text tells us, that after that, God answered prayer on behalf of the land. In this culture of ours, we say; “Only a mother could love a person like that.” That is correct, only a mother loves, when everyone else could care less.
Thank you Faithful One, Mighty God, for including mothers in your works of creation.
