Dec 22, 2017- Suggested Reading 1st Service Psalm 2

“This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham:”
Matthew 1:1 (NIV)

Messiah is the English transliteration of the Hebrew word masiah.
Christ is the English transliteration of the Greek word christos.
The NIV has decided to translate the Greek word Christos with the English word Messiah.
Can get a little confusing but both these words mean anointed or anointed one. The bible teaches us that God is the God of heaven and the God of earth. He lives away up there, and yet He is near to us. He anoints (he forms them in their mother’s womb, and raises them up in their society, and gives them everything they need to accomplish their role) individuals to carry out His good purposes for humans on earth. Psalm 2 is one of the clearest passages on this truth about God’s involvement in human activities. He is enthroned in heaven and yet has installed His king on Zion. Be wise this Christmas and serve this King, serve this King with fear, and celebrate His rule. Bow at the feet of Jesus Christ – right now and worship Him, kiss His feet, and line your life up with His commands.
