Dec 1, 2017- Suggested Reading 1st Service 2 Peter 3

“Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.”

You can tell what a person believes by how a person lives.
The doctrine of the imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ in power with fire is a primary doctrine of all Christians. The Lord and His apostles taught us that He is coming back. It is the next item on the eschatological calendar. Christians disagree about the details or secondary doctrines of this coming, (ie rapture or no rapture) but all agree that to be a Christian means I must believe that He will come again, in power and judgment, to usher in the new age.
Do we believe this, or rather does our life reflect this belief?
Are we living holy and godly lives? Do we really need to get into the Greek words behind holy and godly to understand the plain meaning of the English?
If our lives are not marked by obedience to the Lord.
If our lives are not marked by surrender to the Spirit.
If our lives are not marked by separation from the world.
Then on what basis do we call ourselves Christian?
And on what basis do we declare ourselves ready for the Day?
He is patiently waiting for us to repent- so let us repent - let our lives reflect our belief in the imminent powerful return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
