“For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.”
We don’t want to believe this verse-too judgmental for us.
How dare you judge me by my actions? You don’t know my heart!
Actually what God is saying thru Paul is that we do know each other’s hearts by our actions.
We make a mistake if we try to search out and judge a heart- for only God knows the heart.
But a heart that has experienced a work of grace - the indwelling of God’s Holy Spirit - is a heart that will change our outward actions. We judge actions, not hearts and we judge our own actions first, and then we judge the actions of those who tell us that they are fellow children of God. If there is no evidence of grace on our outward actions, why would we believe that there has been an act of grace in our inward being?

live as children of the light
be careful how you live
be filled with the Spirit
submit to one another
