Psalm 20

"Yet I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day."
{2 Timothy 1:12} (NIV 1984)

What confidence the apostle Paul had in the person and work of his Lord Jesus Christ. He knew! He knew the person of Jesus Christ, knew that He was the Son of God, knew the riches of His grace, and knew that He was Lord of Lords and King of Kings. Paul knew it by faith. He had not yet sight, he had no “proof” that the world demands- no “empirical evidence” – No! No! No! Paul had faith- Paul believed! He believed in the person of God’s only Son.

So it is with the people of Israel who sang Psalm 20. They knew that the LORD saves His anointed. They knew before the battle had even begun, as the king rode out of the city. In other words, they knew by faith.

May we this day KNOW whom we have believed. May God grant us the faith of the apostle Paul and the Israelites. May we live our lives today KNOWING Christ, not ashamed of Christ, but convinced that He is able.
