Psalm 20

"Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs."
{Ephesians 5:19} (NIV 1984)

The book of Psalms is a treasure house for a Christian. How many of us have been blessed by memorizing Psalm 1 or Psalm 23? As we meditate on these Words written so many years ago, our attitudes and even our lives change. Psalm 20 is addressed to the director of music, it was written to be sung out loud. Unfortunately we can’t sing it- we don’t know the tune- but we can speak it out loud! And we should speak it out loud.

Psalm 23 blesses us when we recall it in our mind. But there is so much more than a blessing to receive when we speak it out loud. When fear grips us, whether we are alone in the dark, sitting in the dentist’s chair, or waiting on a doctor, to speak Psalm 23 out loud brings God’s blessing and His peace.

Paul, the apostle, commands us to use Psalms to speak to one another. He wants us to bless each other. As we go through this Easter season together, let’s obey the Word, and speak these Psalms out loud to each other.

May God bless His Word and His children as we speak His Word to ourselves and to others.
