Luke 24 - Road to Emmaus

"What are you discussing as you walk along?"
{Luke 24:13-35}

"What a beautiful day today." "Will it rain tomorrow?"
"Where is your son working now?"
"I bought these sandals from the leather worker in Emmaus."

These two men were going about their business, walking from Jerusalem to Emmaus and could have been talking about any of these things, yet they weren't. They were discussing the things God had done. This text clearly teaches us that the Lord appeared and walked beside them and explained to them more clearly the meaning of what the Scriptures say about Christ Jesus our Lord. The Bible contains God's record of what He has done in this world. Not all of the things that He has done, for there are not enough books in the world to record that!

The Bible contains all of God's revelation of the things He has done. What a blessing would be ours if we could discuss with each other the revealed Word of God! This is the purpose of this blog. Our desire is that the people of Parkdale would use this space, this digital community, to engage each other in discussion about the Word of God.

We will start the discussion, by reading a passage and bringing some thoughts forward. You will continue the discussion as you engage others, seeking to discover together the hidden treasures in the passage. The Lord Himself will walk beside us, through the Holy Spirit, guiding us into truth.

What a blessing waits us as we walk together on the Road to Emmaus. Please join us in this sacred walk.

  1. It all sounds good until you read all what the scripture says.
    1. Jesus hid who he was from them - they didn't know who he was.
    2. Jesus called them fools - it's a wonder they didn't get angry with him.
    3. When they got to Emmaus, Jesus pretended that he was going on further - it was only when they insisted that he come in with them, even though he was just a stranger to them, that he came in to eat with them.
