Matthew 7

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”
{Revelation 4:11} (NIV1984)

Earthly kings receive their kingdoms because their dad or mom was king or queen. Being ‘worthy’ to receive their kingdom is a secondary consideration, as we can tell from the recent news from the British royal family. The king of Swaziland has made the news in a bad way, as has a princess in the Saudi royal family.

Our Lord and God is a King because He is worthy! Glory, honour and power are given to kings, and kings alone. This verse teaches us that our Lord is worthy because He created all things. He thought, He spoke, He worked, and all that is, came into being. He knit each human together in their mother’s womb. He has created all things and therefore is worthy to be King!

So friend, the questions for us this morning are, “Does the rightful King receive glory from how I live? Do I honour the King in all I say and do? Can I see His power displayed in my life?” (2 Tim 3:5) May our lives display the words of this worship song!
