"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but
on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is
eternal."
{2 Corinthians 4:18} (NIV1984)
The fall
has started. The running around has begun again. School, sports, work, home,
church, family and friends. We have things to do and people to see! May we pause this morning and think on what the
apostle Paul is saying in this verse. May we stop and fix our eyes on Jesus.
You can’t see Him for He is at His Father’s side. But you can fix your eyes on
Him.
Peter lived this lesson for us on the night he stepped out of the boat and
walked on the water. When he took his eyes off the Lord and looked at the wind
and the waves, he sank.
All around us is brokenness and unrighteousness. If we
fixate on the troubles we are experiencing now, if we gaze at the brokenness
and unrighteousness, inside ourselves, and all around us, we will founder in
our faith. But if we instead choose this day, through faith, fix our
mind’s eye on the Lord Jesus, on His righteousness, on His holiness, on His
grace, and His compassion, His great love for us, and on the eternal truths of
what we have in Christ Jesus, then friend we will be filled.
Blessed
are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled.
