Joshua 15:15-19, Judges 1:12-15

"She replied, “Do me a special favour. Since you have given me land in the Negev, give me also springs of water.” So Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs."
{Joshua 15:19} (NIV1984

Achsah must have been quite a lady! Her father respected her enough that he gave her land! (this was 3,300 years ago) Her husband desired her enough that he risked his life to win the right to marry her! The account of her asking her father for land is repeated twice in Scripture. It comes across muddled in the English; did Othniel ask her to ask? Did she ask Othniel to ask, and he refused, so she had to go ask? It probably was a little muddled in real life!

Her father was Caleb the warrior, one of the two men of faith in Israel. He had already given them land and a city; it would be brazen to ask him for anything else. However it happened. She went on her donkey, found him, and when she got off her donkey, he asked, 'what can I do for you', and so she asked and she received.

In this little story, there is a tremendous lesson for the children of God. He has given us so much already, perhaps we don’t want to ask for more. Seek Him out, and you will find Him! Your Heavenly Father will ask you, 'what can I do for you', and then friend, you ask Him for a special favour. Your Heavenly Father loves you and He knows what you need before you ask.
