“The LORD knows all human plans; he knows that they are futile.”
Psalm 94:11 (NIV)
The theology of Psalm 94 is similar to that of Job 5, in that it is a cry to God to deal with people on the earth according to their behaviour. Rise up, Judge of the earth- pay back to the proud what they deserve. The issue seems to be how these proud treat God’s people- which should catch our attention, for that is the issue in 1 Corinthians 3. Christians can be very hard on Christians. Do we know that we are dealing with God, when we attack a brother or sister? Do we stop to think that when we attack a brother or sister we invite God to punish us? Do we have the theology or view of God that the psalmist has? A God who knows all of our plans to exalt ourselves over others- all of our plans to build myself up at the expense of a brother or sister- and knows that they are futile- for He is Judge!
He does hear!
He does see!
He does punish!
He does know!
Oh, be careful little mind what you plan.
Oh, be careful little mouth what you say.
For the Father up above is looking down in love …
