"But among you
there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity,
or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people."
{Ephesians 5:3} (NIV1984)
The love
of God is greater far … it is His love that formed us in the
womb. It is His love that brought us into His kingdom through faith. It is His
love that sent His Son to die in my place. It is His love that holds me in His
kingdom, and it is His love that will present me unblemished at the great
wedding feast!
As we set our minds on our great God and His great love, we
realize that we are His and He is mine. A holy God and a holy people, we are
forever His, He is forever ours. Because of these great truths, the apostle
Paul tells us that there shouldn’t even be a hint of sexual immorality among
us. Coarse joking, foolish talk or obscenity does not belong with a holy
person, it doesn’t fit! You can’t imagine Jesus chuckling at a coarse joke,
because He wouldn’t have. The reason all the people around us behave in this
way, is that they are not God’s holy people. They think futile thoughts and
they live futile lives. Not us brother and sister; we are God’s holy people and
there is no place for any of this behaviour in our lives.
Our hearts are
changed, our minds are being renewed, let us live this day as holy people so
that all around us will see our holy God!
