“The LORD said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me
from the ground.”
from the ground.”
Genesis 4:10 (NIV)
We may wonder why?
Why would Cain kill his brother?
Why would Cain care that Abel received God’s favour while Cain didn’t?
Why wouldn’t Cain approach God on God’s terms, if he wanted God’s favour?
Why would God allow the ungodly brother to kill the godly?
We may wonder but we aren’t given the answers.
We may wonder how?
How did Cain know that Abel’s sacrifice was received?
How did God speak to Cain?
How did God mark Cain?
How is allowing Cain to kill Abel a winning strategy for God’s kingdom?
We may wonder but all we are given is HOW Cain killed Abel.
It is enough for us to know that the ungodly hate the godly.
It should be enough for us not to be surprised at the hostility towards Christians in Canada and around the world.
It should be enough for us to understand what the Lord meant when in Matthew 10:21 where He said “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death.”
