Romans 11:33 thru 12:8

“Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?”
{Romans 11:35} (NIV1984)

We take our little children to the stores at Christmas time and we give them money to buy us presents. They are so happy when we open 'their' gifts to us. They are absolutely delighted that they 'gave' us a present. We don’t mock them, or ridicule them; we bless them and thank them. So it is with our Heavenly Father! In His grace, He gives us the faith we need to be saved. He gives us His Holy Spirit and His Word, so that we may have life! He leads us, guides us, corrects us, and prompts us to acts of righteousness. He gives us 'gifts' of prophesying, serving, teaching, encouraging, giving, leading, and mercy, and then blesses us for giving Him these gifts back to Him, by using them for His glory.

If one of our little children used the gift we gave them the money to purchase, as a boasting point over another of our children, well, we would correct them immediately! God is reminding us in this passage of the truth of our absolute dependence upon Him.  Child of God, our Heavenly Father has given you everything you need, so that you are able to give Him an acceptable gift. A gift that will bring you heavenly praise, a gift that will bless a Holy God! May we gladly, even joyfully, join into this wondrous age of grace, and use these gifts in 2013 to His glory!
