Genesis 3

"Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death - that is, the devil - and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death."
Hebrews 2:14,15 (NIV)

The Creator speaks to the created about the consequences of their sin and rebellion. He speaks with authority. He speaks as the One who knows the end from the beginning and all His creatures would do well to listen!

He starts the serpent, one of God's magnificent creatures, who instigated this dark day of sin and death. His punishment includes a humbling and a promise of further punishment to come; a final defeat at the hands of the child of the woman Satan so easily deceived.

He moves then to Eve, who so foolishly believed Satan's lies about God's intentions for her. Her punishment is one of pain, but not purposeless pain, but pain associated with the defeat of Satan, for her pain has to do with child-birth; out of her pain will come the victor.

Then finally, the Creator God addresses Adam, the man who is responsible for his wife, for himself and for the entire earth. His punishment affects the entire earth and involves his relationship to the earth. It will no longer cooperate with him; it will resist him, making his life hard and then swallowing him up in death.

Many people scoff at the truth of the Son of God who is the son of Mary. What about you? Do you see the truth of the Son of God and son of woman, spoken by God in the garden of Eden?

Who would have thought that God would become man and dwell among us? God thought it! God spoke it! God made it happen! Blessed be the Name of our Lord.
