Luke 4:1 (NIV)
Why Lord? Why? Why do You by Your Spirit lead us into the wilderness? Why do You lead Your children, whom You love, and with whom You are well pleased, by Your Spirit into a dry and thirsty land? Why, O Lord, do we cry out and not hear Your answer? Why, O Father, do you leave us thirsty and hungry, desperate for a Word of cheer, a sense of Your blessing? Why do we wonder if You are angry if You truly are pleased?
Oh heavenly Father, please lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
Then I thought, (Ps. 77:10-12) "To this I will appeal: the years when the Most High stretched out his right hand. I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds."
Then I remembered Jesus: (Mk 14:34-38) "My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death," he said to them. "Stay here and keep watch." Going a little father, he fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might pass from him. "Abba, Father," he said, "everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will." Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. "Simon," he said to Peter, "are you asleep? Couldn't you keep watch for one hour? Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."
Give me Jesus, not Adam!
